Carter Jonas has traditionally been well known for being one of Britain’s biggest names in residential property sales and lettings. Every week, thousands of people access their online database, searching for houses and apartments in all areas of the UK.
However, residential property is just one of the 6 main services that Carter Jonas provide. Carter Jonas wanted to increase search engine visibility, and subsequently brand awareness, of their other services. These 6 main services are: Residential Property, Commercial Property, Rural Property Services, Project Planning & Development, Building Consultancy and Minerals & Waste Management.
Challenge
A focused natural Search Engine Optimisation solution was required to drive targeted traffic throughout the site. In March 2006, Carter Jonas teamed up with Pancentric with the overall objective of increasing visibility in the search-engines, with a particular focus on Google.
Solution
Their complex dynamic website was based on a proprietary Content Managed System (CMS) that pumped out search-unfriendly webpages! Our SEO strategy involved identifying and rectifying several core technical issues that were hindering the site’s search visibility. This included reworking the CMS architecture and layout of the individual pages to make the site much easier to be accessed by search engines.
Results
Outstanding results were noticed within weeks of rolling out SEO changes in late May 2006. From a total of 28 main keyphrases (based on key advisory services), the Carter Jonas site enjoyed 11 first place Google rankings, 20 top-five Google rankings, and 23 top-ten Google rankings!
In addition, Search Engine Optimisation work on the site ‘opened up’ every property on the site to the search engines, adding a further 5,255 top-10 listings in Google alone.
It’s still only early days, but website traffic has already increased, particularly among the commercial and rural property pages.
