Law Firm tech & team collaboration - initial survey results

1. Over 60% of firms are wasting time

Searching for files and resources is a productivity issue for most Law Firms we've spoken with. Seems to apply to both large and small firms, and reflects a wider cross-industry issue where stats suggest 30% of an employees' time is wasted looking for information.

2. Big firms struggle most with tech integration

The larger the firm, the worse its systems integration. Smaller firms fare better.

3. Intranets get mixed reviews

Solicitors and Practice Managers are less convinced of their intranet's effectiveness than Comms and HR teams. Typical beefs and disappointments are;

• Navigation and usability: challenges navigating to information easily & quickly, non-intuitive layouts, unhelpful search engines.
• Functionality and integration: want intranet to hook in with other key systems, also accessing files via the intranet to prevent multiple versions across teams.
• Need more links to training
• Aesthetics and design - outdated layout, font, and styling.

4. Onboarding seen as good

Firms see their onboarding experience for starters as pretty good (79%) for employee experience and speed and efficiency. But there are challenges for managers.

5. Offices & depts are tough to connect

Cross-office, cross-department and remote worker connection is a big challenge;

• Connection is often great within a function or team but tends to be poor between functions or across teams, leading to feeling siloed.
• Rapid employee growth can make it hard to build connection across departments.
• Remote and hybrid working is frequently cited as a challenge for communication and connection between teams and across different office locations. 80% of Law Firms surveyed have a highly flexible work from home policy.
